A scooter was the best investment I’ve ever made. $3 a gallon on gas which is around 90mpg and $37 in monthly insurance. You don’t have to pay for meter parking in NY with a scooter and cutting through traffic is a breeze. Best part about it it’s extremely fun and addictive to ride. Scooter for life.

I don't often get caught in a lot of traffic though, and generally take the freeway through half or more of my trip, which I don't believe most scooters are legal on. Also heard they aren't generally ideal for the kind of commutes he just took, although I was really surprised by the time saved? If I could find an alternative route that wouldn't seemingly cost me as much time, I'd probably do it though.
Excellent video story , good comparison .You could also compare exhaust emissions , eg engine size & time running to achieve the end goal . But something many people do daily . Multiply that by the number of daily driver tasks over a year & we can begin to make a difference . Wacko I reckon Scooter Booting is the way to go !

The likelihood of that happening or the severity of it happening makes her strongly against the idea of me getting a motorcycle. I don't tell her I am thinking about getting a scooter because she would have a strong negative reaction.
If everybody motorbikes though the time saving will be degraded because everybody will be waiting in long lines of scooters ...the time saving is predicated upon getting to bypass all the cars and go right to the front as you are less than one percent of all vehicles ...the time saving will drop off exponentially if everybody was on a scooter I think. But it’s sure nice now...keep you cars everyone ! and let me only ride on my scooter. Hehe
I own an electric super soco ts and it costs me 50 cents a week for "fuel" I love it bcus Its not only good for the environment It is a big money saver too! and alot of fun to drive! :D greetz from Holland!
Love my Vespa GTV 300 although we don't have the ability to lane split in Canada and there are no scooter specific lanes. The cost savings comes from running the smaller engine but there's no advantage in time savings here.
You have only 1.1 millions population in your city.. I live in city with > 3 million population, the benefit of riding a scooter is easily 3x greater than what you have mentioned. Great video by the way.
for short rides within the city and a wee bit outskirts scooter is just fine. however you got to think twice to ride it in hot temperatures, rain, snow, hail. one can have an electric car for that maybe. ideally if one has the means and the space a bicycle, a scooter, a car could be kept and alternatively used with smart public transport systems. but yes scooters save you time, money, and the insanity of traffic snarl ups. good video mate!
I may ride a 500cc motorcycle, but I agree - 2 wheeled transportation is faster, cheaper and in my opinion - way more fun! Doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you're having fun doing it!
It's been decades since I've ridden a motorcycle. I'm now 72 years of age and I am THRILLED (doesn't take much at my age) with my three-day-old acquisition of the fastest stock 50cc motor scooter - the "Genuine Buddy 50". I bought it in Florida, which allows the dealers to "derestrict" the speed of the bike the way it comes from the factory (Taiwan, the motor scooter capital of the world, not to be confused with freakin' China), and what that means is that the dealers can remove the speed governors from the scooter. The "Genuine" company is a USA company, in Chicago. Whoopee! I bought the scooter just for local rides, and after breaking it in, expect to be able to reach 50 mph. I can do 40 with no problem so far, but that's not full throttle. Full throttle comes in after the break in period. It requires "premium" gas - well, for a 1.6 gallon capacity tank, I won't go broke, especially since I expect to get as little as 80 mpg, perhaps up to 100 mpg. In the meantime, I'm having a blast! I ride a 400cc scooter because it's all 55 mph and up on my commute. But I love the storage and the ease of use. Step through, turn key, hit start button and I'm off. And it goes over 90 mph...but we won't discuss that lol
If you are a family man, then definitely get a car AND a scooter, so you can go to work with your scooter, and when you have a family trip then you go with your car. But if you are alone and have no one to worry about, then just get a scooter, OR if it is only you and your wife/husband, then get 2 scooters, one for each of you.
Scooter is limited to city streets unless you want to get killed on the highway by a tractor trailer wind gust. Where I live highway or city streets and backroads. Highway is faster.
Here in Athens, Greece if you don't ride you don't dare go down town unless you've packed a lunch, a couple bottles of water, and a few hours of your favorite music. Parking??? That's not a Greek word so don't look for any. :D

You saying 4-6k dollars of savings between a car and a scooter doesn't include insurance. I don't know about Europe but in America insurance is required and costs unbelievable amounts of money. Insurance for a year of full coverage, including covering replacing your scooter in a collision, costs the price of one months car insurance here(~300). And I'm basing that off my prices for a 19 year old guy so the scooter insurance is as high as they will charge.
There are lots of states where motorcycle insurance isn't required. If you're getting that quote that high for insurance, you're either looking at comprehensive or you've got moving violations.
Wait you said your commute distance was 13 miles and you said the commute time on that tiny 50cc scooter was 13 minutes? Wtf were you doing? Those scooters are designed for 30mph. Even if you meant 13 miles round trip that means you were doing full on 30 mph the entire way.
6 miles to work in car 45 minutes in Miami's crazy traffic. 20 minutes in a scooter BUT, riding in the shoulder of road or in between cars, is a NO NO & a ticket you will get. Take your chances & smile @ those in gridlock traffic.

Depends on where you live. Every state and city is different. Check with the local government and see if they have special deals or conditions for motorbikes. I work in Philadelphia which has MC and scooter corrals specifically for 2-wheel motor riders. A yearly permit is $250 a year, or $1.46 a day to park as long as you'd like. If I take my car it cost $7 for the early bird special. Big difference.
The Agility 125 is pretty thirsty, isn't it? Consumtion is about 3,5 l / 100 km. A Honda PCX has a consumption of 2,2 l. I had a Agility City 50. Good scooter!
I got caught in a rain yesterday, donned my standard poncho, and rode home in the rain. Only my shoes and lower 4 inches of my pants got wet, and my hands...ha ha. I wear a helmet with a face shield so head stayed dry.
